‎ODM deputy party leader Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has told politicians linked to party secretary general Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi faction to quit if they were dissatisfied with the party.

Mr Nassir, ‎speaking during the commissioning of construction of Owino-Uhuru road in Jomvu constituency on March 29, 2026, said ODM has always been a party of the people.

The Mombasa governor said the party’s allegiance was to its leader Dr Oburu Odinga who has the best interests of the party.

‎‎”Stop abusing and disrespecting Oburu Oginga. If majority have agreed Oburu to be our leader, you as a minority must abide,” he added.

‎According to him‎ Sifuna faction has already formed another political party and that it should leave if it does not respect the new leadership.

‎”Baba left us in ODM and that is where we will stick. Infact we will form the next government or be in one.”

‎He explained that Oburu has been given the mandate to lead party in coalition talks with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of next year’s polls.

‎”ODM is in the broad based government to stay.”

He added that Baba worked across administrations – from Daniel arap Moi, Mwai Kibaki, Uhuru Kenyatta to the current – as a matter of principle, and pursuit of national stability and progress.

“I affirm that any engagement with President William Ruto follows that same tradition, with ODM firmly participating as an equal partner committed to delivering for the people.”

‎Meanwhile, the governor warned locals who have built structures closer to the road to give way for the construction of roads.

‎He directed the county’s department of public works to hold sittings with affected people to find a way forward.

‎”It is good that this road is wide enough for two vehicles to pass through simulteniously. So those in corners where they need to pave way should do so.”

‎The directive comes in the wake of concerns made by the County directorate.

‎Speaking at the same function, the area MP Badi Twalib said the national government in conjuction with governor’s administration would issue title deeds to his constituents ‘soon’.

‎”You will get your title deeds as soon as demarcation exercise is carried out and completed. I promise you, as your MP, this will happen just like we have done in other areas.”

On the Sunday’s Linda Mwananchi event held at the historical Tononoka ground, Senator Sifuna reiterated that he would not serve as SG under Oburu’s stewardship.
