The ODM Linda Mwananchi faction in Mombasa County has issued a stern warning against any attempts to disrupt its planned mega rally at the historical Tononoka
Grounds even as it rallies GenZ supporters to turn out in large numbers.
The faction, associated with Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino, is taking its public engagement drive to the coastal region with the rally scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026 as part of its broader nationwide political mobilisation.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the venue, Mombasa team leaders led by principal member Mosea Aran, alongside county coordinator Tobias Samba and regional chair Samuel Oduma, said preparations for the event are complete.
“We are asking the government and security apparatus to allow democracy to thrive. We are peaceful and we do not want to see any disruptions during our rally at Tononoka,” said Aran.

The leaders affirmed that all logistical arrangements, including permits, have been secured, expressing confidence in a successful turnout.
“It’s all systems go for the mega rally, we have secured permits and we are ready to show the world that the Linda Mwananchi are ready to agitate for their political democracy, and are asking coastal people to come out in large numbers,” he added.
The Mombasa chapter, largely driven by youthful leadership, is also appealing to like-minded politicians and youth leaders to join the movement as it seeks to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We are asking all people who feel oppressed to come to our faction. We welcome MP Mohamed Ali to join us before it’s too late. We will welcome him because he has similar ideologies like ours,” said Samba.
Among those championing women’s mobilization is Aisha Mohamed, popularly known as ‘Ashu’, who is working to unite women in Mombasa around the push for public rights and fundamental freedoms.
Youth leader Edwin Shamir emphasized that young people will play a central role in the rally warning that any attempts to disrupt the gathering should be met with firm action.

He urged GenZees across Mombasa to fill the stadium and listen to leaders drawn from across the country.
The tour forms part of a nationwide mobilization campaign aimed at engaging citizens on governance and the rising cost of living.
The faction, which describes itself as a “new liberation” movement, continues to position itself as a grassroots-driven force within ODM, even as parallel “Linda ODM” meetings highlight divisions within the party.
