Moroccan tactician Mohamed Borji has officially taken over as the head coach of Bandari FC replacing John Baraza who had been serving in an interim capacity following the departure of former boss Ken Odhiambo.
Borji, who will be assisted by fellow Moroccan Tarik Bendamou, has set his sights firmly on clinching the 2025–26 Kenyan Premier League title.
Speaking through his football agent Gakumba Patric, who translated from French to English, Borji made his ambitions clear:
“I am here to take the club to another level. I have received a warm welcome from the management, and that support gives me the motivation to give everything for the club.”
Bandari chief executive officer (CEO) Tony Kibwana expressed confidence in the new coach saying the club conducted an extensive and thorough search before settling on Borji.

“We searched far and wide and are happy to have landed him. He brings experience, and we believe he can take Bandari to the next level,” Kibwana said during the unveiling ceremony held at the Mbaraki Sports Club boardroom, followed by a photo session at the pitch.
Borji, 44, faces a challenging start to life in the Kenyan Premier League with his debut set against AFC Leopards during the ODM 20th anniversary celebrations.
Bandari has also been pooled alongside Gor Mahia and Shabana FC in the same competition.
Club chairman Toifiq Balala affirmed the club’s readiness for the new season, promising a strong campaign:
“We have put everything in place to support the technical bench and the players. Our ambition is to deliver results and make Bandari a top contender.”
Borji brings rich footballing pedigree
As a player, he featured for some of North Africa’s top clubs including Wydad Casablanca, FAR Rabat, and Difaa El Jadida, before a stint abroad with Malaysia’s Pahang FA.

After hanging up his boots, he transitioned into coaching, leading various Moroccan clubs such as Renaissance Club Athletic Zemamra, Kasba Tadla, and COD Meknès.
He most recently served as assistant coach at Moghreb Tétouan during the 2022–23 Botola Pro season.
While Borji has yet to win a major trophy as a head coach, Bandari will be banking on his experience both as a former top-level player and coach to steer the Dockers through what promises to be a competitive campaign.
