Some Ganze Subcounty of Kilifi County  residents have urged youth affairs and creative economy principal Secretary Fikirini Jacobs to contest for the Ganze parliamentary seat in the next general election.

During a fundraise to purchase Computers  for Milore Comprehensive School, the residents say the PS has demonstrated strong leadership qualities and has what it takes to steer the constituency’s development agenda.

Kasena Kazungu, one of the residents, said Ganze had lagged in development for years and needed fresh leaders to address challenges affecting its key sectors.

“Ganze is orphaned in terms of leadership. We voted for someone who is not delivering on his promises. This subcounty remains underdeveloped with poor infrastructures. We want change, and we believe you are the person who can deliver it,” he said.

The resident criticised the current MP Kenneth Kazungu Tungule for concentrating on his businesses in lieu of serving his electorates.

Ganze Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman George Fondo said residents had for a long time been pressuring him to ask the PS to go for the seat.

“These people have persistently asked me to tell you to vie for the parliamentary position. I had not found the courage to tell you, but since they have spoken openly here, I believe the time is ripe. We want you to contest for the seat despite President Ruto appointing you as PS,” he said.

Emmanuel Menza, another local praised the PS for his previous services as head of the delivery unit in the Kilifi’s Office of the Governor saying he served both the County and the National.

“We want that same zeal brought to Ganze. We are ready to support you in liberating this Sub-county from the shackles of poverty. We want you to fix the gains that have eroded because of leadership,” he said.

In response, Fikirini said he remain focused on serving the country in his current role and would consider the residents request when the appropriate time comes.

“For now, allow me to discharge my duties as the PS. I have a bigger responsibility of delivering President Ruto’s manifesto. When the right time comes you will see me in the ballot,” he said.
