Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports cabinet secretary Salim Mvurya has affirmed that the leadership of President William Ruto has recognized and prioritized the welfare and voice of the Muslim Ummah in Kenya.

Speaking in Vanga of Lunga Lunga Constituency during the 4th Edition of the Vanga Annual Qur’an Competition, the CS noted that through deliberate interventions the government has appointed Muslim leaders to key national positions.

According to him the construction of Muslim Resource Centres, the abolition of vetting in the issuance of national identity cards, and the establishment of a consulate in Mecca to support Kenyan pilgrims travelling for Umrah and Hajj was evidence of his administration.

“The Government has taken concrete steps to ensure that the Muslim community is included, heard, and respected in the current government.”

He reiterated that the Coastal region sits firmly at the heart of government and participating meaningfully in leadership and national decision-making. In his sentiments, divisive politics have no place in the region.

The CS called on the people of the region to continue rallying behind the administration of President Ruto whose leadership has consistently listened to and championed the aspirations of its people.

The Qur’an Competition provided a noble platform to champion the memorization, recitation, and deeper understanding of the Holy Qur’an while strengthening spiritual values and unity within the community.
