Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba has expressed his support for retaining and enhancing the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) as a mechanism for funding educational development in the constituencies.
He emphasized that any system from the national government aimed at assisting ordinary citizens should be improved to maximize its impact on low-income populations.
“The NG-CDF system has significantly helped ordinary citizens and made it easier for MPs to serve their constituents effectively.
The government should explore ways to enhance this system to ensure that citizens, especially the less privileged, benefit even more.”
The legislator made the remarks while presiding over the issuance of bursary forms in Kisauni constituency.
He revealed that the constituency had allocated Sh60 million to support students and reduce the financial burden on parents as schools reopen.
“We have set aside approximately Ksh60 million in Kisauni to ensure our students remain in school and to ease the burden of school fees on parents.”
This development comes amidst a proposed bill in parliament seeking to transfer the administration of NG-CDF bursaries to county governments to create a unified system for funding education across the country.
