Police Holding Five Suspects Over Murder of Police

Five people have so far been arrested in connection with the murder of Police Constable Rodgers Odhiambo on Monday night.
Confirming the same the Lamu county commissioner Irungu Macharia said amount g those arrested is one of his close friend who contacted him on the fateful night to go meet him only to accosted by three men who attached him withpangas, knives and clubs.
“They slashed Odhiambo who was attached to Tchundwa police post on the head, face, neck and limbs and left him for dead.”
Noted Macharia.
The commissioner added that others who taken in by the security apparatus included his relatives and owners of the homestead he lived.
Speaking to the media in Lamu town Macharia the crackdown is still on within Tchundwa village and it’s neighbourhood.
He said the suspects will be assisting the security agencies with investigation.
He appealed to members of the public to cooperate with police by giving information that will help us nab more suspects.
Mr Macharia however issued a stern warning to residents across Lamu against carrying weapons especially machetes and knives in public saying it is illegal.
He said police have already been directed to arrest those found with such weapons in public.
“Last week, we arrested about 40 youth while armed with machetes within Tchundwa, Mbwajumwali and other villages around. People should adhere to the existing ban on crude weapons in public places in Lamu,” said Mr Macharia.
He also warned locals against taking the law into their own hands.
