Police Gun down 3 Family Members over Terror Allegations

Police in Diani has gunned down a terror suspect alongside his two children whom he used as shield in Kibundani Msambweni sub_county.
Confirming the incident Kwale police commander Joseph Nthenge said that the deceased Mohammed mapenzi Alias Spanya was shot after he threw a grenade to the officers .
“The incident occurred at 23 00hrs , as the officers were preparing to break into his house,the suspect suddenly opened his door and threw the grenade to the officers injuring one of them. His act prompted the officers to fatally shoot him alongside his two children he was using them as a shield, “said Nthenge.
The police boss said the officers were searching for firearms in one of the suspects house Saidi Chitswa Alias Ninja known to be a recruiter of Alshabaab who led them to the deceased house.
“Multi agency elite unit who were on patrol at Kibundani area went to Ninja house who was planning to launch attacks in one of the police station disclosed upon interrogation he led the team to the deceased house ,”He added.
The officer said the deceased’s wife and other three children sustained bullets wounds and rushed to Msambweni referral hospital for treatment.
Police recovered assorted jungle uniform and a live grenade in the said house.
Ninja and his friend were arrested and placed in custody pending arraignment before a court of law.
The bodies were taken to Kwale Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem
