A section of Kilifi County leaders aligned with the broad-based government on August 16, 2026 intensified campaigns for President William Ruto’s re-election, citing what they described as the administration’s impressive development records in the region compared to the previous regimes.
The leaders spoke at Macwan football ground during the Women Employment and Public Engagement Forum in Kilifi.
Leading the delegation, Kilifi North MP Owen Baya said President William Ruto had delivered remarkably development projects across Kilifi and deserve another term in office.
The lawmaker pointed to key government projects including ongoing tarmacking of the 56km Bamba-Ganze kilifi road, building of the 10,000 affordable housing units in Tezo, Kibarani, Bofa na Sir in Malindi at Ksh25.5 billion.
The construction of ten modern markets across the region with Mtwapa market are at 75 per cent complete among other key projects. He said the initiative had positively stabilised the economy and improve livelihoods.
“The President is ensuring every part of country benefit from development. Roads are being tarmac, modern markets are coming up. All these kind of leadership deserve support,” he said.
The MP said that the progress made in the last four years was unmatched and urged residents to back Ruto for a second term so as to have a stronger bargaining power at the national level.
“The work that Ruto has done in these four years no other President has ever done. A Country is not built on empty rhetoric, it is changed by solid arrangements and President records speak for itself,” he said.
The legislator accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who previously toured the region describing him as a political tourist saying he has failed to offer practical solution to the challenges facing kenyans.

“Kilifi County can clearly see the development records of President Ruto’s administration. Those coming here to campaign without agenda like my friend Kalonzo who is a political failure should not mislead our people. He was in government for more than 25 years and failed even to improve the live of his backyard.”
He explained that the government was prioritizing on projects that directly improve live of the people without discrimination.
The MP was accompanied by other leaders including youth affairs and creative economy principal secretary (PS) Fikirini Jacobs, Kilifi deputy governor (DG) Flora Chibule, woman representative Getrude Mbeyu, Kilifi senatorial aspirant Stephen Karisa (Kahosho), former Taita Taveta Woman representative Joyce Lay among other County and national government leaders.
The PS urged residents to scrutinise the agenda of political leaders while maintaining their support for the President and reject politics that threatened national unity.
“Anyone selling an agenda, listen to them but don’t you know where our votes are going. All those eying elective post you must judge them based on their capacity to deliver rather than political party affiliation,” he said.
He emphasised that strongly showing for the President could strengthen the region’s position in the country’s political succession in 2032.
He referred the President vision 2060 as a long-term roadmap which target inclusivity and was set to transform the country into a prosperous nation.
Joyce Lay echoed the sentiments saying that leadership should be anchored on vision and the ability to steer the country towards sustainable development.

“A leader without vision cannot led a nation. Kenya’s should support the President because his vision have clear direction for prosperity,” she said.
Mbeyu, on the other hand, challenged opposition leaders to present clear development agendas rather than relying on tribal grouping.
