Members of the Luo community drawn from the four wards of Nyali Constituency have endorsed the late Raila Odinga’s sister Pauline  Oginga for the area’s parliamentary seat in forthcoming general election.

The meeting brought together community leaders, elders and residents from Frere Town, Kongowea, Kadzandani and Ziwa la Ng’ombe wards to discuss her candidacy after demonstrating commitment to public service and community empowerment.

Speakers praised her leadership record citing her performance in the various government assignments she has held since 2020.

The endorsement was made on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 during a luncheon held in Nyali to condole with the administrator following the death of the late  Raila Odinga.

“We believe she has the capacity and experience to champion the interests of residents and advance the development agenda of the constituency,” said one of the community leaders.

Participants said the endorsement reflected confidence in her leadership and desire for greater inclusivity and representation in local politics.

The gathering also served as a platform for discussions on development, youth empowerment and social cohesion within the constituency.

The endorsement comes months after Ms Oginga publicly declared interest in the Nyali seat.

Speaking during an interview with political analyst Prof Herman Manyora in April, she said she was considering a bid for the constituency seat in the 2027 general election citing her desire to contribute to the area’s development through elective leadership.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Oginga thanked the community for the condolence visit and the expression of confidence in her leadership.

She pledged to continue serving residents diligently and to remain accessible to the people of Nyali.

“I am humbled by the support shown by the community,” Oginga said.
