YSW Unveils 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, Vows to Hold Leaders Accountable

Youth for a Sustainable World (YSW) has unveiled its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan at Msambweni that outlines key priorities including youth empowerment, gender equality, anti-gender-based violence [GBV] campaigns, and economic empowerment.  

Through the strategic plan the organization pledged to hold leaders in various positions accountable as part of its advocacy agenda.  

“Our goal is to ensure young people and women have a voice, resources, and protection. We must also hold those in leadership positions to account,” said Philis Wabwire, YSW coordinator for programs and advocacy.  

Wabwire said the organisation would partner with grassroots organizations, county governments and development partners to implement the plan hence push for policy reforms.  

The launch drew youth leaders, women groups, and civil society representatives who welcomed the move as timely for Kwale County.

Kwale county director of youth affairs Kent Simiyu said the plan  addresses historical injustices affecting the girl child as well as stigma and teenage pregnancies among other issues.  

“We are ready to continue partnering with various stakeholders to ensure youth affairs are put into meaningful consideration, we welcome the plan and we are ready to support it,” he said.

YSW will use the five-year plan to guide its interventions across the Coast region through to 2030.

Nelly Amoite, Kwale County director for gender, welcomed the plan saying it would go a long way in creating impact.

The government is optimistic that the YSW Strategic Plan Launch 2026–2030 will align with youth aspirations. 

“This plan will address issues of leadership and governance, access to health services like SRHR among others,” she said.

It will also address historical injustices affecting the girl child, as well as stigma and teenage pregnancies, among other issues.

In attendance for launch was Biasha Jasho director for Msambweni Queens and Mwanamtama Muradhi Galz ambassador Kinando who is also the president of Enye Movement Msambweni are both optimistic that the plan will tackle the ever growing cases of early pregnancies as witnessed in the county.
