Former Deputy President and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua has directly blamed Interior cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Internal Security principal secretary Raymond Omollo for political violence saying they were facilitating ‘goon’ attacks.
“This matter of goons is for Murkomen and PS Omollo because they have been watching things happen and they are quiet,” Gachagua said during a media briefing in Mombasa.
He urged the Inspector General of Police to “live up to his work” and deal with the attacks.
Gachagua dismissed President William Ruto’s recent Mt Kenya tour as having “no impact” insisting the region has already decided to make him a one-term president.
“The issue of Ruto at Mt Kenya is not an issue. The people have said they want to remove him because he has failed to deliver development,” he said.
He accused Ruto of “duping” Mt Kenya residents. “He has failed in his modus operandi. The Mt Kenya region has no plan with Ruto.”

In tow with Gachagua are Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, former CS and DP leader Justin Muturi, and former Knut chairman/secretary general and KADU Asili leader Mudzo Dzili as the opposition took their campaigns to the Coast.
According to Gachagua the Coast region has suffered economically “due to poor leadership” and pledged that the opposition will “restore its economic turmoil.”
“The Port of Mombasa has not benefited the Coastal people. It’s the right of Mombasa people to get employment at the port, but fishing rights have been given to strangers, leaving people suffering,” said Dzili.
Wamalwa took a swipe at the government for sidelining the region on fishing and water supply. “We are asking the coastal people to back and support us. We walk together in ensuring they are in the government in 2027,” he said.
Kalonzo Musyoka said the opposition is ready to unseat President Ruto in the 2027 general election.
“We will not allow abductions. We will not allow the Constitution to be threatened. We are asking our people to register as voters so that they can help remove President Ruto’s administration,” he said.

He dismissed “ODM orphans” rushing to State House as desperate and controlled by the President whims.
Gachagua maintained the opposition would “capture the Coast region” and wants equal opportunities for all Kenyans and what they have to offer to the next people’s government.
