The much awaited Rashid Abdallah 6th Edition Super Cup championship is finally on course in the Mombasa County.
It was officially launched on July 12, 2025, at Mombasa Sports Club.
Rashid’s supper cup is one of its kind. It kicked off with colour, pomp and sound, and it will be here for the next five months, when its finals will be played.
At the official launch , hundreds of thousands of fans from all the corners of Coast region thronged the Mombasa Sports Club to witness its inauguration.
The fans braved the chilly weather to be treated to music and dance with robust entertainments that tell tales and leave revellers with fond memories.
The choice of the Bongo artists who graced the opening ceremony was a well thought move, as it resonated fairly well with the fans who had fully parked the Mombasa Sports Club grounds.
The likes of Mario, Prince India, Susumila kept the ground live throughout the six hours prior to the kick-off.
That launch could easily be mistaken for a presidential campaign rally given the high number of fans who flocked to the venue. Several fans could be heard murmuring to each other about its impact in the County.
The early birds say fans started flocking to the ground as early as 9.00am and they stayed put with no regret to make at any given time courtesy of the Rashid’s Supper Couple.
The five month tournament is sponsored by Mr and Mrs Rashid Abdallah, unlike the yester years when it was singly organised by the husband alone.
Those who followed the proceedings praised its organisation. Though the referees were on time for the opening match, most fans were caught unawares saying it started a bit too early.
They say the vibes reigned throughout the ground, and none would have thought it would come to an abrupt end to pave way to the start of the much awaited tournament.
Several people expected that the fans would walk away just after the match began, but that was never as they stayed put for the entire event.
They enjoyed every moment as players displayed their talents and skills with the ball.

With players drawn from both Mombasa and Kwale Counties, professionals and local breeds combined to form two formidable teams that displayed their well harnessed talents before the distinguished dignitaries, among them the Mombasa Assembly speaker Khatri Ararub Kenya Ports Authority Chairman Benjamin Tayari alongside others.
Team Lulu, the Mombasa Combine dressed in green uniform, was well escorted by unusual Simba Ropa with very tempting flavours that one wished they could be allowed to play all night long.
While her spouses Team Rashid from Kaya Kwale matched in red with a number of vuvuzela, they still were suppressed by the Simba Ropa, but they carried the day through a penalty shootout.
“Actually this is much of a show of talent because most of the youths within the Coast region are well talented but have nowhere to showcase them. Now this is the beginning of it. We shall give them the platform to display their talents,” said Rashid Abdallah, said founder of the auspicious Tournament when addressing a battery of Journalists at an interview.
He insisted that several scouts were present on behalf of various clubs and would pick some players for a bigger mission.
He said soon Kenyans will get to hear of their performances abroad if all goes well.
As he was seated quietly among the dignitaries following closely, the patterns made by the players as they juggled the ball to maneuver their way to the goal posts, one could vividly tell what was doing rounds in Rashid’s head.
“This multitude has honoured my call to grace this occasion…or rather these people are interested in football, I can’t believe this” maybe he thought quietly, the renowned presenter with a National Television.
Some professionals who spared time for the launch didn’t disappoint the crowd either as they displayed their techniques before the young and the mighty.
Among them were Brian Okoth who plays for Police FC,
Corazone Aquino from Simba Queens Tanzania as well as Levis Opiyo who earns his daily bread by playing for AFC Leopards.
Others present were Naaman Balecho – Tusker FC Violet Nanjala – Municipal de Layooune (Morocco) Mwanalima Adam – Kansas City (USA).
Many couldn’t believe that Corazone Aquino could score a goal through a penalty shootout after the game ended at one goal draw.
“Let’s get out of here there is nothing more going on and we want to close the gates.” a GSU officer could be heard as he whisked fans out of the field.
Many fans had to be whisked out of the venue at around 7.30pm when the match had stopped way long before.
For the second time Rashid declined to disclose the Prizes for the winners in this Tournament.

“When an injection is being administered to you it will be done gently such that you’ll only get to know of it once it hits the borns so don’t worry you’ll get to know of it soon! He said as he walked away laughing!
Meanwhile the matches are going on every weekend.
For the Mombasa poll the matches are being played at Serani grounds while those in Kwale are going on at Waa grounds.
