32 Teams up for RASC Tournament

A total of 32 Teams  have been enlisted to participate in the 6th Edition of Rashid Abdallah Supper Cup (RASC) in Mombasa and Kwale counties.

The 16 teams apart from the two counties will have a rare chance to display their talents and showcase their prowess in the most prestigious tournament across the country.

Rashid Abdallah, the patron of the tournament, said this year’s winner would walk away with a very prestigious award that has never been won before.

Speaking during the release of the draw for the RASC in Mombasa on May 12, 2025, Rashid said this year’s tournament would be very competitive and its prize would be equally attractive though he never disclosed it.

“This is the first time this tournament has brought onboard teams from Mombasa County and I can assure you the prize is really amazing,” he said.

The patron said the aim of the tournament was to promote brotherhood and showcase talents in football that were on the verge of being forgotten due to lack of a meaningful platform.

He said the Coast region has a lot of talents not only in football, but different disciplines that go unnoticed due to lack of such platforms to showcase them.

“This tournament is not just about who wins what, but it’s also about how best we shall nature and harness the forgotten talents so as youths can get absorbed in bigger clubs across the world”.

He called on players to maintain high degree of discipline so as to attract more sponsors.

“We’d rather remain with a handful of teams but kick out all undisciplined players as well as their team anytime they prove to be rude in the ground.”

The patron insisted that no amount of indiscipline will be tolerated and that everyone should be on the lookout lest he loses the lifetime chance.

On her part, Lulu Hassan, founder of Lulu ya Jamii Foundation, assured the players that indeed the prize for this year’s tournament was really impressive that it needed a special day for disclosure.

The couple, who host a joint show in a popular TV Station, said they would soon disclose to the teams the prizes to be won in this year’s tournament.

“Though this tournament was started in Kwale but I want you my people from Mombasa to win this cup because I know you’re capable of doing it,” she said amidst applause from the crowd.

Meanwhile, former Harambee Stars national coach Jacob Ghost Mulei who was in attendance called on youths to maximize on the rare opportunity that has been accorded to them to showcase their talent.

According to the coach youths are very talented, but the biggest problem is they have not received maximum attention from national platforms.

He challenged talented youths to use alternative means of video taping themselves and display their work to various Clubs across the world.

“You people you need to be creative and use what is available to market your talents. By the use of the video it will be ease to showcase your football talent,” he said.

A total of four groups in each county have been formed ready for the RASC tournament starting next month.

RASC will run for six months and finals will be held in Kwale. Security apparatus in the region have assured all the teams and players of their security.
