The new State Department of Shipping and Maritime Affairs principal secretary Aden Millah held a familiarization meeting with the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) Board of Directors and senior management on May 6, 2025 at authority’s headquarters in Mombasa.
He was received by KMA’s acting director general Isaiah Nakoru who assured him that the authority had a skilled workforce that was eager to support him and deliver on its mandate.
“KMA has a strong team and I believe we can deliver quality services to the people,” he said.

The director also highlighted that the authority’s strategic plan and activities were aligned to the government’s Bottom up Agenda and aimed at creating job opportunities for seafarers and the youth.
Addressing the institutions leadership, the PS said KMA was a critical institution in the nation’s maritime governance framework and played a central role in promoting maritime safety, environmental protection and the development of maritime transport services.
During his visit, Mr Millah engaged with the KMA leadership and management team on the progress of key initiatives.

He also reaffirmed the governments commitment to ensuring that the organization was well resourced and aligned with international best practices.
“Work for the benefit of the country and people,” he said. “Count on my support.”
