Kilifi police officers have arrested a suspected drug trafficker at Mnarani area where they recovered 261 rolls of bhang valued at Ksh52,200 and Ksh13,400 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.

Confirming that at his office, the Kilifi North Sub-County police commander Stanley Tonui said the suspect, Pamela Atieno, was apprehended following a tip-off from local residents.

“We received information from the public that there was a suspected drug trafficker in Mnarani named Pamela Atieno. Officers from the station, then, conducted a raid at her home and successfully recovered the bhang and cash,” he said.

The commander praised the community-policing collaboration saying it was important in fighting drug-related crimes.

He urged the residents to continue reporting illegal activities so as to deal decisively with the ever-growing menace.

“I encourage residents to report drug trafficking and other illegal activities to the police at any time. These crimes have devastating effects on society, and we must work together to eliminate them.”

He revealed that Mnarani, Mtondia, and Chumani have been identified as hotspots for drug trafficking in the county.

The police boss issued a stern warning to individuals involved in the illicit trade saying they would face the full wrath of the law and assured residents that law enforcers would spare no one.

“We have identified areas such as Mnarani, Mtondia, and Chumani as locations with high drug trafficking activity. I want to assure the people of Kilifi that we will arrest all those involved and ensure they face legal consequences,” he warned.

Concerned authorities have vowed to intensify operations against drug traffickers in the region to ensure citizenry adhere to rule of law and safeguard the community.
