Bamburi Cement PLC Keen to Increase Investment on CSR Activities

Bamburi Cement PLC, which was recently acquired by Amsons group of Industries has declared its commitment to increase its annual expenditure budgets on activities that uplift livelihoods of Mombasa County communities.

Amsons group of industries company representative, Tawaqal Rajab Sumba, announced that the company was exploring key areas of partnership with County government in the new plan.

“We are new, and we appeal to the Mombasa community to welcome us with both hands as we embark on these partnerships,” he said when speaking on behalf of the company’s chief executive officer (CEO) Edhah Abdallah Munif.

The company now hints at investing heavily to uplift the livelihoods of Mombasa people in the health, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and education sectors.

The new gesture, therefore, means the multi-million firm will likely need to adjust its annual budgets to cater for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.

“We will continue to cooperate with communities of Mombasa, for the sake of uplifting their livelihood. As Amson group, we will sit with Mombasa leadership to explore areas where we can partner and where they think we can come onboard. We will do so.”

Speaking when donating an assorted food consignment at the Governor’s headquarters on Monday, March 17, 2024, Tawaqal reiterated the company’s commitment in the production of quality brands that satisfy customer needs.

“We want to continue manufacturing quality products for the benefit of customers who use our brands. We also commit to partner with the County government in different spheres, including education, economic empowerment, and infrastructure for the benefit of our community.”

The company’s new management has also announced that it will continue with Ramadhan food drive donations to the needy families and those feeling the heat of hard economic challenges in the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

On the material day, the company donated a consignment of assorted foodstuffs to the government which would be distributed to children homes and needy families in Mombasa.

According to him the food will go a long way in helping the needy in the spirit of healing in the holy Month of Ramadhan.

“Since we started the iftar drive, we have reached thousands of people, through partnerships both in Mombasa and Nairobi counties, we will continue to cooperate with communities to uplift the livelihoods of the people of Mombasa.”

The Bamburi Cement Food Drive Initiative kicked-off by providing an assortment of food stuff to 4,000 families in Mombasa and another 1,000 in Nairobi.

Mombasa County trade and investment executive member Mohamed Osman, speaking on behalf of the governor, promised to ensure protection of all investors who have goodwill to help uplift livelihoods of the community.

“We thank them for the good gesture, and we plan to partner with them in their business growth. We also ask other companies to come on board to help the needy,” he said.
