Umoja Summit Party of Kenya (USP-K) has announced plans to recruit new members across the country as it seeks to redeem its dwindling image ahead of 2027 polls.
Speaking in Kilifi town after launching the drive, the party secretary general Barrack Muluka said the aim was towards giving an opportunity to Kenyans from across the country to register as new members.
According to him the exercise is also part of the strategy to rejuvenate, reenergize its grassroot structures and as a long-term plan to strengthen USP-K’s position as the strongest party in the country.
“As USP-K party we have planned vigorous grassroot activities intending to position it as the party of choice ahead of the next poll. The voting population is expanding every day as children transition into adulthood.”
The party, in his words will resort to digital membership registration.
“I am appealing to all of you to register as members of this great party. Very soon we will start countrywide tour that will see traversing all the 47 counties in readiness for the 2027 polls. Our website is also open to all the members.”
This move is seen as a strategy to boost USPK’s presence in the country and give its 2027 exploits the necessary momentum.
USP-K Deputy secretary general Naomi Cidi said the party would field candidates in all the elective positions except the presidency.
“As USP-K our time for politics and campaigns is now and we shall have our candidates in all position except for the president, let us come out and register as members because this is the political party of inclusivity. We want everybody to be part of USP-K.”
