Sixteen year old handicapped girl, burnt to death.
A sixteen year old handicapped girl has succumbed to death after fire broke up and burnt down their house.
The morning incident happened at Kisumu Ndogo in the outskirts of Malindi town at around 10am.
Confirming this, the area chief Nicodemus Mwayele said the incident happened while both the parents of the deceased were away from the house.
He said already investigations have been launched to determine the real cause of the fire.
According to the mother of the deceased Mary Njoki she had gone to bring some breakfast for her daughter when the fire broke up.
Narrating the ordeal, the mother said she had not lit any kind of fire in the house and was shocked to see her house on fire.
“She was my first child, it’s really hurting me, her father had gone to work and she was alone in the house,” she said.
She said that she is yet to come to terms with the morning incident that claimed the life of her beloved daughter while her husband learnt the incident through a phone call when one of his neighbours called him.
Efforts from Fire fighters to put out the fire were in vain as they encountered onlooker’s residents and also limited space in to the scene.
Led by Josphat Wario he said that resents should be careful when building house to leave space when it can be easily accessed by rescue vehicles.
“We responded to a phone call from the area chief but due to limited road space we could not quickly put out the fire,” said Wario.
