At least 24 teams will battle for a Ksh1 million grand prize in the Sisi ni Dola Cup tournament.
Lamu, a new entrant, comes in to spice up the competition for the first time.
The tournament will be held at Mombasa Sports Club.
Hassan Ibrahim, sports director at Dola Group, said the Sisi ni Dola Cup would run for five weeks and bring together talents from the five out of six counties: Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, and Lamu.
“This is the second edition and teams have been increased by 4 with the inclusion of Lamu,” he said.
“The grand prize has been increased to Ksh1 million from Sh500,000 previously.
“Initially, it was a Mombasa tournament, but we have decided to bring in teams from the five Coast counties, except Taita Taveta,” he said.

According to him the company is investing in sports with 24 teams competing in structured pools where players will showcase their talents and skills.
“The tournament is an opportunity to nurture emerging talent and inspire generations.
This is also an opportunity to identify talent for scouting by different teams.”
The winner will take home Ksh1 million and the runners-up Ksh500,000 while third and fourth placed will get Ksh250,000 and Ksh100,000 respectively.
Other prizes will be awarded in different categories such as best player, best coach, top scorer, and best goalkeeper for individual performances.
Goshi Juma Ali, Mombasa County sports, youth and gender chief officer, said the tournament would uplift livelihoods, boost business economy, and nurture talents.
“Mombasa is a city that loves sports. Therefore we have to involve the youth in sports to keep them away from social vices,” he said.

The officer called on other sponsors to come on board to support football leagues in the county in the quest to nurture talents.
The first match will pit defending champions Fayaz Bakers against Magogo United.
