Mombasa is set to host the 29th Annual Scientific Conference of the Kenya Association of Physicians (KAP), bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers and policymakers from across Africa and beyond to discuss the future of medicine and healthcare innovation.

KAP President Dr Erick Njenja emphasizes that the growing complexity of health challenges requires stronger collaboration, innovation and reliance on evidence-based practice.

“Together, we can strengthen systems, enhance training, and ensure that no community is left behind,” he said.

The four-day conference will focus on harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies to transform healthcare delivery.

Participants will explore how these innovations can enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making, improve patient outcomes and health-system efficiency, strengthen medical education and training for future physicians, and support data-driven policy formulation and healthcare planning.

The event will feature a rich programme of high-level panel discussions, clinical updates, research presentations, policy dialogues and thought-leadership sessions led by experts from across Africa and internationally.

Dr Njenja noted that the conference will also serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and partnership building among healthcare professionals.

“This conference is a space to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and spark innovations that respond to Africa’s unique health needs.”

The diverse programme is designed to benefit both seasoned practitioners and emerging professionals, with young researchers and early-career physicians expected to showcase their research and engage with mentors in shaping the next generation of medical practice.

Organisers say the conference will help foster collaborations that strengthen healthcare systems, promote innovative solutions and ensure that no community is left behind in Africa’s healthcare advancement.
