As a global welfare organization, the International WeLoveU Foundation (Chairwoman Zhang Gil-jah, hereinafter referred to as WeLoveU) will hold the 817th Worldwide Blood Drive at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Embakasi.

About 80 people, including some members of WeLoveU as well as their families, friends and neighbors, are expected to take part in the blood drive.

A WeLoveU representative said, “Our members have come together to raise awareness about the importance of blood and the need for blood donations. I hope that the Worldwide Blood Drive will encourage participation from our neighbors and help them change their widespread negative perceptions regarding blood donation.”

The Worldwide Blood Drive” is a global life-saving movement that promotes a virtuous cycle of sharing, where one person’s act of blood donation encourages others to do the same.

The campaign contributes to alleviating blood shortages in local communities and promoting a culture of voluntary unpaid blood donation, supported by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Worldwide Blood Drive was also held at the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service last February. The drive attracted 68 participants, of whom 37 successfully donated blood.

Beyond simply encouraging blood donation, the drive also plays an important role in raising social awareness.

Since its launch in South Korea, the blood drive has been held all around the world for over 20 years; it has long served as a reliable source of support for our neighbors who need blood transfusions.

Until last year, the blood drive was held in 64 countries, with approximately 137,000 participants and about 62,000 donors. They’ve saved the lives of 186,000 people, considering that one donation can save up to three lives.

WeLoveU is an NGO associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications (UN DGC).

As of 2025, WeLoveU conducted more than 10,900 welfare activities across a wide range of fields, including environmental protection, disaster relief, health care, educational support, and social welfare, under the slogan “Mother’s Love to the Whole World!”

WeLoveU works hard to build a hopeful future for people and the planet and to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well.

In recognition of its outstanding efforts, WeLoveU has received more than 1,000 awards, including the ROK Order of Merit, the US President’s Volunteer Service Award (Gold), the Royal Order of Cambodia, and the Vicente Rocafuerte Medal from the National Assembly of Ecuador.

WeLoveU has also been extensively supporting local communities across the country.

Last year, WeLoveU provided comprehensive support by repairing educational facilities damaged by flooding, conducting hygiene education, and donating school supplies and hygiene kits to students in Mathare North Primary School, Nairobi.

In 2024, WeLoveU donated two 10,000-litre water tanks to Tassia Kwa Ndege Hospital (Level 4) in Nairobi, and installed a water pump in Olengo Village, Siaya, providing clean drinking water for the residents.

WeLoveU also conducted the Clean WORLD Movement in Nairobi City Park, Ngara, snd Ngong.

In addition, WeLoveU took the lead in environmental protection efforts by carrying out the “Mom’s Garden” project in locations such as Kangemi Recreational Park in Nairobi and Uplands Forest in Kiambu.

This project aims to restore degraded forests and to green desertified areas.
