President Reaffirms Government Investment in Education to Secure Youth Future

President William Ruto has said his administration was commitment to increased investment in education saying the sector remains central to securing opportunities and a better future for Kenya’s young people.
Speaking at Moi Barracks Senior School in Kamagut, Uasin Gishu County, the President said Kenya’s development ultimately depends on its people making investment in education critical to the country’s long-term progress.
“Education is life and this is why we are investing heavily in education,” he said.
President Ruto said his administration would continue expanding access to quality education through investments covering different levels of the learning system.
Among the interventions he highlighted are the recruitment of additional teachers and expansion of learning facilities to respond to growing enrolment and ease pressure on existing infrastructure.
He also pointed to reforms in the financing of higher education saying the government is working to ensure students are supported to pursue university education irrespective of their economic backgrounds.
“We want to make sure that every young person in Kenya has an opportunity to get an education and become whatever they want to become.”
The President said the government was investing in student accommodation, including hostels as part of efforts to provide a better learning environment for students in universities and other institutions of higher learning.
His remarks place education at the centre of the administration’s broader youth agenda, with the government arguing that investment in teachers, infrastructure, financing and accommodation will help equip young Kenyans with the skills required for employment and entrepreneurship.
For the administration, the measure of the investment will ultimately be whether expanded spending and reforms translate into better access, improved learning conditions, affordability and stronger opportunities for young people after completing their education.
