Prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi has praised efforts to eradicate jiggers after launching the Ahadi Kenya Trust Jigger Archive and Museum and Resource Centre in Murang’a. The facility was initiated by Dr Stanley Kamau.
Speaking at the launch, Mudavadi lauded Dr Kamau for changing lives across the village through the anti-jigger campaign.
He said the media’s persistent coverage played a significant role in raising public awareness, mobilizing partnerships, community action and national support.

The PCS emphasized the need for collective responsibility to sustain the anti-jigger campaign so that no Kenyan child or family ever again suffers the indignity of severe jigger infestation.
Mudavadi noted that the Jigger Archive and Community Resource Centre preserves the memory and protects the truth about the fight against jiggers.

“The artefacts, stories, records and research materials housed here will help Kenya and the world learn critical lessons from the anti-jigger campaign,” he said.
The research materials, he added, will educate researchers and future generations on the dangers of poverty-related diseases and the importance of hygiene, dignity and community participation.
