Pavilion Master Builders has introduced a new wall and floor coating product that aims to change Kenya’s construction finishes market.
They have partnered with South Africa’s Mixx Cement Company to make this happen. The product, called Mixx Cement, is a premium, thin-film, cement-based coating that promises seamless concrete-like finishes.
It can be applied to floors, walls, and furniture and is marketed as a durable, cost-effective alternative to traditional paints, tiles, and overlays.
At the launch event in Nairobi, Moya Blight, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Mixx Cement South Africa, explained that Pavilion Master Builders invited her company to Kenya to train local builders on the Mixx system.
“We have two wall products: one for interior use and one for exterior use. The product is widely used in hotels, lodges, and high-end homes. You can apply it on previously painted surfaces, tiled floors, or cement walls. It is a durable and cost-effective coating.”
Mixx Cement functions like a micro-cement that sticks to nearly any rigid surface, including tiles, glass, melamine, and wood. The company also noted that it comes in various colors.
The system combines a dry cement powder with a color binder to create a slurry. This mixture can be rolled on like paint for a smooth finish or troweled on for a textured, architectural concrete look.
Once it cures, the finish is sealed with a polyurethane sealer, such as Supreme Seal. This protects the porous surface from stains, moisture, and UV damage, making the product suitable for wet areas and outdoor use.
“The benefits are clear: durability, cost-effectiveness, and an upscale appearance,” Blight added. “I spoke with some hotels, and they mentioned they need to recoat their walls and floors every three years. Our products last longer.”

She explained that Mixx Cement has been in development for the past 30 years and is suitable for a wide range of users, from big commercial projects to DIY home makeovers.
Simon Pogson, the Marketing Director at Africa Supplies Ltd in the UK, who has worked closely with Pavilion Master Builders on the launch, described Mixx Cement as “tried, tested, and trusted, especially in Southern Africa.”
“We are here to launch Mixx Cement, an exceptional product in construction,” he said. “I believe Kenyans will love this product. They appreciate beautiful, quality items. If you like beautiful things, visit Pavilion Master Builders, take a look, and transform your home.”
Pavilion Master Builders’ CEO, James Kimotho, emphasized that the company is offering more than just a product.
“We don’t just provide products; we deliver solutions supported by technology partners who assist us with training,” he said.
Currently, Pavilion’s primary offering in Kenya includes Decra roofing tiles. The company views Mixx Cement as a complementary finish that will help it “fill the market space with unique solutions.”
Kimotho promised that the Pavilion team will be available to train Kenyans on proper application and to ensure the product is accessible nationwide. “We are excited to bring new finishing products to the market,” he said.
“The team will be available to train clients on using Mixx Cement, and we will ensure it is available throughout the country.” The manufacturers listed common uses for the product, including updating old kitchen countertops, tables, and cabinets; creating modern feature walls and seamless flooring; and applying durable, exterior-grade plaster to facades, patios, and entertainment spaces.
During the demonstration in Nairobi, applicators showcased how the cement-binder slurry spreads to create a “concrete” finish in a single, flowing layer, and how the final polyurethane seal improves resistance to everyday wear.

With training and distribution from Pavilion Master Builders, Mixx Cement aims to offer a new finishing option that combines aesthetics with performance.
“We want to fill the market space with unique solutions,” Kimotho said, encouraging architects, contractors, and homeowners to consider the new system for their renovations and new constructions.
