Coastal leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) staged their fourth day political sensitisation campaign in Ganze Subcounty of Kilifi County to rally residents into supporting President William Ruto’s development agenda.

The awareness campaign is part of ongoing regional political mobilization tour aimed at strengthening grassroots support while highlighting the government’s development record.

During the rally, the leaders outlined the government’s commitment to inclusivity and representation citing several ongoing and completed development projects in the county claiming they have improved livelihoods through expanding economic opportunities for residents.

Led by UDA secretary general Hassan Omar, the leaders told residents to register as members of the party saying its vision was focused on addressing the socio-economic challenges affecting the region.

The SG noted that the Coast has witnessed improved stability compared to past periods marked by insecurity and tensions.

Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports cabinet secretary Salim Mvurya said the region has a stronger voice in national governance noting that its representation in government has placed it at the heart of the country’s decision-making processes.

He urged residents to continue supporting the Ruto’s administration saying the region stands to benefit from the ongoing development programmes.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi said all pledges made by President Ruto would not be taken for granted.

He said the national government remained committed to addressing historical development gaps in the region.

UDA deputy party leader and Lamu governor Issa Timamy stated that Coastal leaders were united around the government’s development agenda and its commitment to ensure the region benefited from national programs.

All the leaders that spoke during the function declared support for UDA gubernatorial aspirant Aisha Jumwa asking the residents to join the party to boost their numbers come next year’s general election.

They dismissed the zoning system saying all those supporting the broad-based government should be allowed to vie any elective seat anywhere in the country without restrictions.

The sensitization campaign is expected to continue in Kwale County as the leaders move into the fifth day of their Coast region mobilization tour.
