Foundation Moves in Hand to Support Nyali Residents Enhance their Businesses

In a heartwarming show of community empowerment, the Nelson Alfayo Hope Foundation has reached out to support local women traders, boda boda operators, and youth clubs with essential donations aimed at improving livelihoods, safety, and youth engagement.

The women who are vegetable traders in Kadzandani expressed their joy and gratitude after receiving large shade umbrellas. These umbrellas will shield them from the scorching sun and heavy rains, allowing them to continue their work in more comfortable conditions.

“We are so happy. For a long time, we have been selling our vegetables under the sun. These umbrellas will help protect us and our goods,” said one of the smiling beneficiaries.

In another boost to the community, boda boda riders were provided with reflector jackets to enhance their visibility and safety on the roads. The initiative also aims to promote responsible operations and curb the activities of rogue riders.

“These jackets will not only keep us safe but also help customers identify licensed and trustworthy operators,” said a local boda boda rider.

The foundation also extended its support to youth clubs in the area by donating much-needed football kits and jerseys. Previously, many of these young players had been training and playing matches with torn balls and without proper uniforms.

“This is a dream come true. We now feel proud when we step onto the field. We thank the foundation for believing in us,” said a youth team captain from Kadzandani ward.

And as the  the country draws near to the 2027 general election Youth leaders from Mombasa have called on elected leaders to deliver what they pledged to their electorates in the previous election.

The concerns come as youth and women are drawn in a vicious cycle of promises when elections draw near.He says it’s bad for a leader to take advantage of vulnerable young people and use them as pressure groups instead of giving them a meaningful economic venture to employ themselves.

The youth leaders led by Nelson Alfayo from Nyali say it’s bad for politicians to take advantage of the vulnerable communities to seek re-election instead of solving problems the people face.

Speaking at Frere-Town grunds, during an empowerment forum for youth,women,andBodaboda operators, Alfayo,who is vying for Nyali parliamentary seat also cautioned youth against being used for political gain by selfish politicians.

During the empowerment drive Women traders,youth in spirts and Bodaboda operators from Nyali are among the latest group of vulnerable to reap from  from Nelson Alfayo Hope foundation.

Women traders who sell vegetables and who suffered direct sun rays and rainfall now have something to smile about after they were awarded with shade Umbrellas.

Hundreds of Bodaboda operators also got reflectors while a number of youth graduated with technical skills certificate  after getting training from IYF center, Mombasa,thanks to the Alfayo Hope Foundation sponsorship.

Some of the young people led by Wahida Twalib youth leader from Frere-Town says youth should be engaged on meaningful empowerment projects to uplift their lives.

“Our youth don’t have jobs,they end up indulging in drugs and crimes,we are welcoming any project that is intended to uplift lives for us as Young people,”said Zaib Wanga, another youth from Frere-Town.

The spoke during an empowerment forum for women,youth and persons with disability at Frere town Mombasa thanks to Alfayo Nelson Hope Foundation.

The unemployment situation has also attracted the attention from international youth fellowship ( IYF) organization Elvina Achieng leading young people in Beauty, targeting to uplift the young people to get education.

“We are empowering youth with training skills from beauty , tailoring and others to ensure they are equiped with technical skills so that they can employ themselves,”said Achieng.

Nyali Bodaboda were also empowered with uniforms to ensure they are identical to avoid them indulging or abbeting criminal activity.

“All Bodaboda operators have blue uniform that are identical,this makes it easy for us to identify our second weed out those who are not part of us,this way we are fighting crime,”said Collins,Bodaboda chairman in Nyali.

Nelson Imoli another youth from Nyali Asked young people from being used by politicians to cause chaos during electioneer period.

Imoli said Nelson Alfayo hope foundation has uplifted many young people with skills, empowerment programs.

The Nelson Alfayo Hope Foundation continues to champion grassroots development, focusing on empowering women, promoting road safety, and nurturing youth talent through sports. Their recent efforts have brought renewed hope and dignity to the community.
