As the world advances technologically, young people are urged to harness the power of innovation not just for investment, but for holistic development.

Experts believe that the future of insurance lies in digital transformation, and companies like Britam are stepping up to bridge the gap and include all generations in the technological revolution.

As the world continued to make technological advancements, young people are expected to embrace technology for various purposes, not just for investment, but also for overall development.

According to Britam Agencies managing director Tom Gitogo said people in the past believed that insurance was prioritized for the middle class and wealthy individuals, forgetting to include young people in matters related to insurance and investment.

Speaking during the opening of a new Britam insurance branch in Mombasa County, he noted that there was a significant risk in the technological sector if digital-savy youth were left behind.

“As Britam Agencies, we identified a major risk in the technology sector, where in today’s digital world, many young people had embraced technology. In the past, people thought insurance was meant for the middle class or those with financial power, leaving out the youth.

However, we at Britam came up with solutions to address such issues and include all social groups in Britam insurance,” he said.

The Britam branch is a unique new office opened on February 7, 2025, and witnessed by various leaders from the insurance companies.

The MD mentioned that Mombasa County had been experiencing significant economic improvement comparing it to Rwanda, and pointed out that Britam recognized the current and future generations as technologically driven, making it necessary to adopt a digital approach to meet customers’ needs and goals.

On his part, the company’s chief executive officer James Mbithi stated that the organisation was ready to serve its customers efficiently.

He noted that the government had proposed that all cargo entering and leaving the port must have maritime insurance and Britam was prepared to take up that role to ensure customers’ needs were fully addressed.

“There is a government directive requiring that all goods entering and exiting the port must have maritime insurance, and we at Britam are ready for that task. We assure our customers that everything is in place with Britam,” he added.

Mr. Mbithi further mentioned that Britam had sufficient expertise and experience, particularly in technology, where customers accessed services digitally, including important insurance certificates.

The office, which was inaugurated by company officials, investors, customers, and various guests, was described as a significant step that would enable Britam to serve not only Mombasa County but also the entire coastal region.
