UDA secretary general Hassan Omar has told retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to keep off Mombasa politics.
The SG accused the former Head of State of sponsoring candidates for the Mombasa governor seat.
Speaking on Friday, August 21, 2026 in Mombasa, he urged youth to register as voters ahead of the next general election.
He asked the party’sh grassroots leaders to ramp up mobilisation and ensure young people get voters’ cards.
The SG ruled out zoning saying all candidates within the broad-based formation must contest equally.

“Everyone must vie. We are not ready to step aside. The only way is to be on the ballot.
“My business is to drum up support for William Ruto, and that can only be possible by vying.”
According to him the opposition has no agenda for the country.
“We have no doubt in President William Ruto’s leadership. His leadership has performed better than any other leadership.”
He also took a swipe at Nyali MP Mohamed Ali for associating with the opposition saying such leadership has no place in Mombasa.
“No leadership associated with the opposition will have a place in Mombasa leadership. Every day they are spreading propaganda.”

He further said that if he clinches power his administration would rename all public facilities in Mombasa named after the Kenyatta family.
“When I clinch power, I will rename Mama Ngina Drive to Mekatilili Drive and Kenyatta Avenue to Dedan Kimathi Avenue. We must honour the real fighters.”
