Thousands of residents of Chonyi Subcounty in Kilifi County have benefited from free huduma mashinani services that are aimed at helping Kenyans to obtain crucial government documents.
Officers from Huduma Center in Kilifi pitched camp at Kidutani Primary School grounds where more than 2,000 residents turned up to obtain identity cards, birth and death certificates, and certificates of good conducts among others.
The organisers said that lack of such documents had denied many residents key government services.
The Kidutani program was organized by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi’s liaison officer Sammy Ndago who toured the area to oversee the exercise.
The officer, who is eyeing the Kilifi South MPs seat in 2027, said that the free huduma mashinani program would continue until all residents get the documents.

The former Shimo la Tewa member of County Assembly (MCA) urged the youth to obtain the documents saying they were the most disadvantaged and lacking employment opportunities for lack of them especially certificates of good conduct.
“You will agree with me that we wronged this nation by storming Parliament using force and we wanted to enter the August house using the back door, but now we have an opportunity in 2027 to vote for our fellow youths to represent us in parliament. And I urge you to register as voters in large numbers. If you are 18 years and above, obtain an ID and voters card,” he said.
He also called on residents to register as voters in large numbers so that they could elect leaders of their choice and condemned local elected leaders for doing little to campaign for President William Ruto’s re-election.
“In Kilifi I would like to see youthful MPs and MCAs and reserve the Women Representative, Senator and Governor for the old guards so that we can consult them,” he said.

He rejected the broad-based government’s zoning politics saying President William Ruto and ODM leader Oburu Oginga should allow voters to elect leaders of their choice.
“We will not allow zoning in Kilifi County and I want to tell the President that those leaders advocating for political zoning are lying to him and that selling him to residents was becoming difficult as we approach next year’s general election. If we don’t accept political inclusivity then we are doomed,” he added.
