One Petroleum has strongly denied claims of wrongdoing in a recent emergency fuel supply contract maintaining that the deal was government initiated and fully sanctioned through Ministry of Energy.

In a statement issued on Friday, April 24, 2026, the Mombasa-based petroleum firm dismissed what it termed as targeting of the company and its directors “without any legitimate basis.”

The company said it was prepared to take legal action to protect its reputation.

The statement comes amid media reports questioning the procurement process and quality of fuel delivered under the emergency .

Addressing the circumstances surrounding the contract, the firm stated that it did not solicit the deal, but instead acted on an official request from the state.

“We did not seek this contract. We responded to a written government request. Every aspect – quantity, price, and even quality – was communicated to and approved by the Ministry of Energy in writing, with formal waivers in place,” the statement read.

The company emphasized that it has maintained transparency throughout the process and engaged relevant authorities at every stage.

“We have at all times fully cooperated with all government authorities and investigators,” it said.

The firm expressed concern that ongoing reports have misrepresented its role in the transaction, warning that it would not hesitate to defend itself.

“One Petroleum and its Directors are being targeted without any legitimate basis. We will take every step necessary – including legal action – to protect our reputation and that of our Directors.”

The statement comes in the wake of public scrutiny over emergency fuel imports and procurement procedures.

One Petroleum insists that all aspects of the consignment met regulatory requirements and were cleared by government ministries before delivery.
