Jubaland Delegation Visit Lamu to Strengthen Cooperation

Lamu County Government hosted a high-level delegation from the Federal State of Jubaland, Somalia, led by Hon. Ibrahim Yussuf, Minister of Trade, Industry and Commerce , and Hon. Abdifatah Mohamed Muktar, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The visiting ministers were warmly received by the Lamu County leadership, underscoring the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two neighbouring regions.

During the visit, Lamu Governor Issa Timamy welcomed the delegation and extended an open invitation to tour the various county departments. The Governor encouraged the ministers to explore Lamu’s diverse development initiatives across different sectors, with a view to identifying best practices that could be replicated in Jubaland to foster *sustainable development and regional resilience*.

The delegation’s movement and engagements are being coordinated by the *Department of Public Service Management (PSM) in the Governor’s Office, where the key functions of Cross border Peace, Cohesion, and Integration are domiciled.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the ministers expressed deep appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Lamu County Government. They noted the importance of strengthening ties in areas such as trade, culture, tourism, and community resilience for the mutual benefit of both peoples.

This visit marks a significant step towards *enhanced cross-border collaboration*, with both counties committing to building stronger partnerships that promote peace, stability, and prosperity.
