Kamau Leads Standout Performances at Sanlam Allianz Golf Event

The Sanlam Allianz Golf Tournament lived up to its reputation as one of the region’s premier golfing events, drawing an impressive 193 golfers to the course for a day of intense competition, sportsmanship, and high-quality play.
In near-perfect weather conditions, golfers battled across a challenging layout that demanded both precision and endurance.
At the end of the tightly contested event, S. M. Kamau (H/C 19) emerged as the overall winner, securing victory on 41 points countback, edging out several strong contenders.
The Best Gross honour went to the experienced Gurbux Singh (H/C 5), who carded a commendable 75 Gross on countback, showcasing exceptional control and consistency throughout his round.
In the men’s category, Omar Lewa (H/C 9) posted an outstanding 41 points to claim the Men’s Winner title.
Jimmy King’ori (H/C 9) followed closely with 38 points, earning him the runner-up position after a steady performance.
The ladies’ field produced equally competitive scores. Lena Breitner (H/C 25) emerged victorious with 38 points, while Mary Kandu (H/C 9) took the Ladies’ Runner-Up spot on 37 points, keeping the contest tight to the final holes.

Senior golfer Peter K. Macharia (H/C 37) put on a fine display to win the Best Senior award with 40 points.
The juniors also impressed, with Shay Chauhan (H/C 13) securing the junior winner title after posting 40 points, narrowly ahead of junior runner-up Ethan Kinuthia (H/C 19), who closed with 39 points.
Other notable performances included Dr. Patrick Nyamemba (H/C 20), who claimed the staff winner award with 30 points, and Abed Malik (H/C 22), who topped the guest category with 38 points.
In the newly introduced Invited Coast Clubs category, Bharat Chavda (H/C 22) scored 28 points to clinch the win. Emmalyne Kamau (H/C 44) stood out among the high handicappers, securing her category victory with 35 points.
Tournament organizers hailed the turnout and competitive spirit displayed across all categories, noting that the event continues to grow in participation and prestige year after year.
With outstanding performances across the board and a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day, the 2025 Sanlam Allianz Golf Tournament concluded on a high note, reinforcing its status as a highlight on the regional sporting calendar.
Elsewhere the Safaricom Golf Tournament 2025, delivered a thrilling display of emerging and seasoned talent on Saturday, with golfers battling for top honours across multiple divisions in a highly competitive field.
Fidel Wasike (hcp 21) emerged as the Overall Nett Winner, carding an impressive 41 points to secure the tournament’s top accolade. Close behind was Nett Runner-Up Tej Bachu (hcp 6), who posted 40 points after a solid and consistent round.

In the gross category, Erick Mutai (hcp 7) produced one of the day’s standout performances, firing a commendable 74 gross to take home the Gross Winner title. Mutai later added to his success by clinching the Longest Drive (Men) award.
The men’s nett category saw Nelson Bosuben (hcp 24) take top honours with 40 points, while Christine Nyangena (hcp 24) claimed the Ladies’ Nett Winner title after finishing with 35 points.
