A-19-year old casual labourer, who is already serving a jail term over defilement, was on Friday, September 5, 2025 sentenced to another 30 years over a similar offence.

Lucky Munga is serving a 10-year jail term in a separate defilement case. He was convicted and sentenced after being found guilty of defiling a 13-year-old girl.

The offence came to light after the minor became pregnant. Investigations further established that the accused had also defiled her sister, a minor aged 15 years.

He was charged with defilement contrary to Section 8(1) as read with Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.

The particulars of the charge stated that on different dates between March 2023 and January 8, 2024, at Chumani Village in Kilifi North Sub-County, the accused unlawfully and intentionally defiled the minor.

During the trial, the prosecution, led by Counsel Nancy Njeru, presented five witnesses whose evidence corroborated the testimony of the victim.

In her judgment, Principal Magistrate Ivy Wasike ruled that the prosecution had proved the case beyond any reasonable doubt.

The court dismissed the defense offered by the accused that he was framed and sentenced him to serve 30 years in prison.

The magistrate observed that the stiff penalty would serve as a deterrent to similar offences at a time when cases of defilement are on the rise.
