County Officer Shortlisted for Global Award 2025

In a proud moment for Lamu County, Mr. Shee Kupi Shee, an officer in the Department of Public Service Management, has been shortlisted for the prestigious AidEx Humanitarian Hero of the Year Award 2025.
The award, a globally recognized accolade, celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to humanitarian assistance and peace building efforts. This year’s winner will be officially announced on 22nd October 2025 during the AidEx Expo in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Shee’s nomination places him among an elite group of 11 global finalists — and notably, he is the only nominee representing local government worldwide.

Reacting to the announcement, Mr. Shee expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of Lamu County, crediting the support system around him for enabling his work:
“This recognition is not mine alone. It reflects the enabling environment created by our County leadership and the collective efforts of colleagues, partners, and community members. I am deeply grateful to His Excellency the Governor for standing with me and for supporting humanitarian and peace building work in Lamu,” he said.
This international recognition highlights not only Mr. Shee’s personal commitment and resilience but also places Lamu County firmly on the global map as a leader in grassroots humanitarian action and peace building.
